North Carolina beaches are not particularly known for surfing and that may be a good feature, as your standard North Carolina beach vacation is apt to be less crowded. Besides that, North Carolina’s beaches and coastal islands offer a great deal more than than just swimming and surfing.

Of course, what is a beach vacation experience without a little deep sea fishing? The Outer Banks are plentiful with tuna, mackerel sailfish, mahi mahi and shark. Charters cost ranging from $450 for half day deep sea excursions to $1300 for full-day excursions out into the open water.

You will realize there is much more to North Carolina when you travel out from the beach and start moving into the rustic Blue Ridge countryside.
