Now the weather has turned and it’s getting dark so much earlier you might be feeling a little despondent. Christmas is coming up but it’s still a couple of months away. Summer and the warm weather seem like a million years ago. Now is the perfect time to book a mini break. With short plane tickets going so cheaply these days and so many amazing destinations just a few short hours away it’s so easy. You don’t really need to start going abroad though when there’s so much to do here.

A mini break away for the weekend could be a great way to relax and take a break. If you have a look around your own country you’re sure to find something you want to do or something you want to see. If you want to keep the creature comforts of your home whilst you’re away from home renting a holiday cottage would be the ideal solution. It’s not hard to find a holiday cottage for rent, just try asking around your friends and family and you’re bound to find a little cottage tucked away somewhere that you could rent. You’ll often find this is cheaper than booking a hotel room for the weekend too.

Booking a holiday home still needs to be researched properly though and there’s a few things you’ll need to check. Make sure the landlord of the property has proper holiday cottage insurance. This is something entirely different from your household insurance. Holiday home insurance will mean that you’re covered as well as the actual building and contents. If you do decide to leave the country you still need to make sure the property is covered by overseas property insurance.

After that all you have to do is turn up and enjoy yourself. If you can leave your mobile switched off and leave the laptop at home. A break away should be truly relaxing and you can’t do this is you’re still tied to your everyday life.
