This year will see the tenth edition of the Primavera Sound Festival, which takes place from May 27-29. Already some great names have been confirmed to create a mouth watering line up. Among them are UK sensations Florence and the Machine, The Pet Shop Boys and The Charlatans. As always, Barcelona’s premier music festival has delivered the big names from the worlds of grunge, pop and rock music.

 

These bands and many more will take their place on one of the seven stages that will be set-up at Parc del Forum. This has been the traditional home of the festival over the past few years. Joining them will be a host of internationally known DJs that never fail to draw the crowds. As aforementioned, Parc del Forum will play host to the acts and the crowds during all three days. It can be found to the North of the city centre on the Ronda del Litoral ring road. The Forum park makes up a large proportion of the Diagonal Mar neighbourhood. Originally constructed to host the Universal Forum of Cultures exhibition in 2004, it now has many purposes. Holding festivals is just one of these but there is also a public swimming area open in summer and a yacht marina.

 

One of the stages for the shows will be the Forum Auditorium. Other venues in various areas of the city will also be used to celebrate the festival. Some parks and town squares will be used for performances. Castle Montjuic will even be utilised as this is the tenth year of the event. Activities in the castle will actually take place one day before the festival begins.

 

As the city enjoys such great transport links, you’ll have little trouble in making it to the Parc del Forum. The nearest Metro stop is El Maresme and from there you have a short walk. The park is also well serviced by trams, so getting off at the Forum stop is another option. If you are thinking of getting the bus, the numbers you should look for are 7, 36, 43 and 141, which stop on Av. Diagonal and Alfons el Magnanim.

 

Nearby hotels might mean you don’t have to travel to reach the park, but the neighbourhood is an expensive one. Hotels in Diagonal Mar might be outside of the budget of most people planning to visit the festival. A better option for accommodation is booking a holiday apartments Barcelona in the city downtown. Not only are they cheaper, but they offer lots of choice in terms of facilities. Even from the centre of town, you can jump on public transport and be at the park in minutes. So, don’t rule out a stay in the city centre.

 

For music lovers, the Primera Sound Festival is one of the events of the season. Not only see some of the biggest names performing live but you can do so in an outstanding venue. Being the tenth year of the festival, this year promises to be even bigger than ever. And, no matter where you stay in the city, the Parc del Forum is easy to get to. So, with a great setting, great acts and all in a sensational city, this is one event you won’t want to miss this year.
